Hassan Kamal Wattoo was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up splitting his time between the city and Wasawewala, a village in the District of Okara in Punjab.
He has been writing since 2016, and in addition to a regular column in Dawn, his work has been featured in the The New York Times, Aleph Review, CNN International, Express Tribune, and Daily Times.
He is a practicing Advocate of the High Courts, and has worked previously at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, where he clerked for the Chief Justice of Pakistan. He holds an LLB from SOAS, University of London, and an LLM from the University of California, Berkeley Law School.
